Photo of the Day - Sept. 2, 2015
The Greenwood Ridge Riesling is a ways off but on my first visit to the vineyard yesterday I saw a textbook example of "Shatter." Shatter happens when bloom is interrupted by something, like rain or cool weather. In the first photo you can see that a small number of berries actually polinated. photo #2 shows what they should look like and what most of the vineyard does look like. Yields will deffinitely be down this year. The other shots show the rugged beauty of this great vineyard and the remote ridge top location in the Mendocino Ridge appellation. It was a great day to be roaming remote Mendo. - Alan
