2017 Transverse Pinot Noir
Tasting notes:
We hold the Transverse blends back a couple more years than most of our releases to allow the complexities of the blend to harmonize and integrate. This wine is really showing a lot of black fruit on the nose right now. Black cherry and blackberry dominate with ripe fig and a twiggy, green tea component that is very attractive. The flavors are more earthy than the nose might suggest. Cigar box and fresh cut cedar come out first and then comes a nice ripe cherry note that brightens as the wine moves across the palate. The many different fermentation lots that went into this blend definitely give this wine a depth and richness that makes it a joy to experience as it opens up in your glass. It will age well and continue to evolve for many years. (Updated 3.10.23 - Alan)
