2016 Starscape Vineyard Pinot Noir
Tasting notes:
As a younger wine the 2016 Starscape was brimming with Bing cherry and cola aromas. These classic Russian River Valley characteristics are always in the mix with Starscape but they have softened and the nose is showing more notes of earthy forest floor. This 2016 has a spring in its step; elevated acidity makes this a very vibrant and active wine on the palate. The Bing cherry transforms to a warm cherry claufouti and you also get a hint of something minty — maybe tarragon? — that lingers after a taste. The wine has built palate weight as it ages and has plentiful tannins that gives a good hint that it has many years ahead as it ages. (Updated 1.4.23 - Alan)
