2016 Saltonstall Vineyard Pinot Noir
Tasting notes:
The Saltonstall vineyard sits right in the center of the windy Petaluma Gap AVA in western Sonoma County. With a few years in bottle this wine has shifted decidedly to the earthy side of the Pinot spectrum. Rich earthy loam dominates the aromatic profile with soft plum and strawberry notes mixed in. On the palate the wine is very well integrated balancing the earthiness with light cherry and more of that plum we get on the nose. Pinot can sometimes build palate weight as it ages but this wine continues to retain the liveliness of a young Pinot. Drink now through 2025. (Updated 3.1.23 - Alan)
