			Ingredients
			- 3 tbsps olive oil
 - 1 large onion, chopped
 - 2 garlic cloves, minced
 - 1 tbsp tomato paste
 - 1 tsp cumin
 - 1/4 tsp kosher salt
 - 1/4 tsp black pepper
 - pinch of chili powder, to taste
 - 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
 - 1 cup red lentils
 - 1 large carrot, peeled and diced
 
Directions
			Tasting Notes: Red lentils and cumin have a toated, nutty flavor that are perfect compliments to the earthiness of Pinot.
Serena's Tips: This is a really easy and satisyfing lentl soup. We saute the carrot with the onions and garlic. The amount of water to add is more about texture, if you like a thick soup, reduce the amount of water from 2 cups to 1 or 1.5 cups.
