This wine is very uniform front to finish. The aromatics are all about black tea and black cherry, with notes of plum and cocoa. A hint of tobacco has popped up on the nose as it has aged in the bottle. It’s quite earthy on the palate, with the black tea and black cherry remaining at the forefront. You also get some forest-floor aromas that sneak up into your nose from the back of the tongue. Compared to our other clone-specific wines from 2016, this one feels like it has seen a little more time in bottle … even though they were all bottled on the same day. Go figure.
