So much of what we do and stand for is all about trying to craft a wine that is an expression of the vineyard where the grapes are grown. This wine comes from a completely different point of view. What if we ignored all boundaries of vineyard and even appellation to craft a wine that we feel is the absolute best expression of the Pinot noir grape from all our vineyard sources? What you get is an incredibly complex but also wonderfully balanced wine that we hold to allow it to reach optimal aromatics and balance before releasing.
The 2013 Transverse is definitely a complex wine that falls decidedly on the earthy side of the Pinot spectrum with mushroom, loamy forest floor, and fennel leading to baking spice elements and roasted root vegetable aromas. The core of the fruit component on the palate leans toward darker fruit like black cherry and blackberry. Take your time with this wine and let it reveal its many facets to you.
